New Year's reception for the Chinese economy in Düsseldorf

On Tuesday, February 14th 2023, the city of Düsseldorf and the state-owned trade and investment agency NRW.Global Business invited to their 20th annual New Year’s reception for the Chinese economy to welcome the Chinese Year of the Rabbit.

We were happy to be invited and take part in the event.

The mayor of Düsseldorf Dr. Stephan Keller, Dr. Tobias Traupel from the State Ministry of Economy, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy, and the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Düsseldorf, Mr. Chunguo Du, welcomed the guests with their speeches. They emphasized on the importance of Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia and China to continue working closely together and strengthen their economic ties. It will and is increasingly important to develop and expand renewable energies and green technologies. There is a great potential to work together and to find solutions for the challenges of the future.

Around 160 guests, both from Chinese and German companies, were pleased to be invited and attend the event, in the Hotel Hilton in Düsseldorf, and exchange ideas and strengthen their cooperation. It is more important than ever for us, to work together and to build a sustainable and prosperous future.

1100 Chinese companies chose North Rhine-Westphalia for their branch office, 630 of those are located in Düsseldorf. Even though, because of the pandemic and the travel restrictions, it was much more difficult in 2022 to expand, 65 new Chinese companies settled in North Rhine-Westphalia and 32 of those in Düsseldorf.

We are looking forward to a fresh start in the Chinese Year of the Rabbit, the first new year after the pandemic.
